Actor’s Tools – Workshop
7.3.2026 10:00 - 14:00, Viba Film, Room P14
At the Actor’s Tools workshop, participants will gain concrete knowledge and practical tools to help them develop their own authentic approach to acting and make it an essential part of their artistic process. The tools taught are ones the mentor has developed through years of study and extensive professional work in theatre, film, and television. The approach draws from the Strasberg Method, the Meisner Technique, and Uta Hagen’s approach, which she weaves together into a vibrant, practical, and contemporary acting process.
During the workshop, we will learn how to achieve relaxation as well as physical and psychological readiness, how to work with the voice, how to establish genuine connection with a scene partner and truly listen, and how to embody text and develop a character. Through improvisation, we will use imagination to explore circumstances, relationships, and situations, developing authentic characters that stem from ourselves. Each participant will receive a text prior to the workshop, which will serve as the starting point for the practical part of the session. The focus will be on the process of developing a vivid, tangible, and truthful character from a given text or director’s notes — from audition to the final role.
The workshop offers a safe, motivating, and supportive environment for exploration, where we build trust in ourselves, in our scene partner, and in the process. It is intended both for beginning actors who wish to discover and develop their acting tools, and for working actors who want to refresh, deepen, or reconnect with the foundations of their craft.
The workshop will be held in Slovenian and English.
Workshop Structure:
Relaxation:
How to achieve a neutral, open state that relaxes and prepares the actor for work. The focus is on establishing psychological readiness, presence, and responsiveness.
Awakening the Actor’s Voice – Work with Voice, Body, and Breath:
How to awaken your voice and connect it with breath and body. Through body awareness and breath control, the actor explores where the voice resides in the body, how to create resonance, and how to use voice, body, and breath to establish presence, relaxation, and flexibility for the creative proces,
Connecting with a Scene Partner:
How to work with a partner in a scene, be truly present, listen, and respond in the moment. The emphasis is on the relationship rather than the result, and on building trust between scene partners.
Working with Text:
How to approach the text, recognize its structure, and develop a character from written words. The actor extracts impulses for action from the text and explores what the character wants and what drives them.
From Words to Action:
Ultimately, the text itself is no longer in the foreground — what matters is what is truly happening between the actors on stage or in front of the camera. The living interaction between actors takes center stage. How do you embody the text so that it comes alive? Words become actions, and the relationship becomes a concrete experience on stage or in front of the camera.
